A few simple considerations will help ensure that the end result is not only beautiful, but also harmonious.
1. Consider the hair color
One of the surest clues is the dog's coat color:
For dogs with dark fur (black, dark brown), bright, vibrant colors – such as yellow, turquoise, bright red – beautifully highlight their shape.
Almost anything looks good on light-haired dogs (white, cream, blonde), but darker, fuller colors (burgundy, navy, black) provide a particularly elegant contrast.
For brown or red hair, earthy colors (mustard yellow, green, brown) create a natural overall effect, while blue or purple create a vibrant contrast.
2. Think about your dog's "personality"
Color isn't just about aesthetics – many people like their collar to reflect their dog's personality. An energetic, playful dog will look best in bright, pop colors, while a calm, classic type will look better in more subdued, tonal shades.
3. Practical considerations also matter
Visibility in the dark: if you walk a lot in the evening, it is worth choosing a combination with reflective thread or a bright, highly visible color.
Dirt resistance: very light colors (white, light gray) show dirt more quickly than darker or patterned combinations.
Seasonal change: many people like to choose a lighter, more summery color scheme for summer and a warmer tone for winter.
4. Don't be afraid of combinations
The great thing about paracord is that you don't have to stick to just one color - two or three colors can be combined in a pattern. A good starting point: choose a main color (that matches the dog's fur) and one or two additional colors that add contrast or vibrancy.
